Boone 3v3 Soccer Tournament Set for May 30

The Daniel Boone High School Boys Soccer program is preparing to host its annual Summer Kick-Off 3v3 Tournament, with this year’s event expected to be bigger than ever.
Scheduled for Saturday, May 30 at 4 p.m. (rain date: May 31), the tournament will feature teams in the U9 through U13 divisions competing in a fast-paced, small-sided format. The event will once again combine soccer, food, music and family-friendly activities, including a crossbar challenge and the return of the popular Kona Ice truck.
Last year’s tournament drew more than 500 attendees and 40 teams, and organizers are aiming to expand to 50 teams this year. Registration is $150 per team, with an early bird rate previously offered.
With limited spots available, teams are encouraged to register early to secure a place in what has become a highlight event for the local soccer community.
Juston McKinney Brings Stand-Up to Pottstown

Comedian Juston McKinney is set to perform at SoulJoel’s at SunnyBrook in Pottstown on Sunday, May 3, bringing his nationally recognized stand-up to a more intimate local stage.
The show begins at 6 p.m., with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are priced at $20 for general admission and $30 for preferred seating closer to the stage. The venue will offer a full bar and free parking for attendees.
McKinney, known for appearances on The Tonight Show and multiple Amazon Prime comedy specials, has built a reputation for his relatable, everyday humor. Events like this give audiences a chance to see a nationally touring comedian in a smaller setting, offering a more personal and engaging experience than larger venues.
Boone Goalie Sweetwood Reaches
100 Career Saves Milestone

Jillian Sweetwood just hit 100 career saves, and that's not just a number. It's 100 moments where she didn't flinch.
100 times her teammates trusted her to have their backs. That kind of consistency doesn't happen by accident.
It's built in practice when no one's watching, in film sessions, in the quiet grind. So proud to see this recognition for a player who brings it every day.
Keep owning that cage, Jillian!
Old River Road Bridge Closed Immediately in Birdsboro

The Old River Road Bridge in Birdsboro has been closed immediately to all vehicular traffic after engineers determined the structure is no longer safe for travel.
The closure, located near 1130 Old River Road by the Beidler House, follows findings of accelerated deterioration in the bridge’s structural steel, attributed in part to heavy and non-local traffic.
Officials have fully barricaded the bridge, making it impassable to vehicles. Motorists are advised to follow the existing Route 724 detour, with local access permitted only up to the closure point. Drivers should expect delays and plan alternate routes.
The bridge will remain closed while further engineering evaluations are conducted. Although a full replacement is currently scheduled for 2030, it is unclear if the bridge will reopen before then.
Star Wars Night Returns to Fightin Phils Ballpark

The Reading Fightin Phils are inviting fans to celebrate Star Wars Night at the ballpark on Saturday, May 9, combining baseball with a galaxy of themed entertainment.
Attendees are encouraged to dress up as their favorite characters and enjoy a night filled with Star Wars-themed activities throughout the game. The evening will conclude with a MEGA Blast fireworks show, adding to the excitement.
Organizers say the event is designed to bring fans together for a fun, family-friendly experience both on and off the field.
