Daniel Boone Primary Center
Needs Clothing Support

The Daniel Boone Area School District Primary Center is asking for community support to help replenish its supply of student clothing.
School officials say the nurse’s office is currently in need of pants and shorts in sizes XS through XL for both boys and girls. These items are kept on hand for students who may need a change of clothing during the school day.
Community members are encouraged to donate new or gently used clothing, which can be dropped off at the Primary Center main office.
District staff say the donations play an important role in helping students remain comfortable, confident and ready to learn throughout the day.
GRCA Annual Dinner to Feature
Former NASA Astronaut

The Greater Reading Chamber Alliance (GRCA) is preparing for its 113th Annual Dinner, featuring a keynote address from former NASA astronaut Mike Massimino.
Massimino will present a talk focused on embracing change and preparing for the future, drawing from his experiences in space exploration and leadership.
The annual event will also recognize outstanding local companies through the Business Excellence Awards, highlighting achievements across multiple categories.
In addition to the program, attendees will have the opportunity to network with more than 700 members of the regional business community during a cocktail hour and throughout the evening.
Organizers note that advance registration pricing is available for a limited time, with tickets currently on sale online.
Schuylkill River Sojourn to Celebrate
America’s 250th Anniversary
The Schuylkill River Sojourn will mark a major milestone in 2026, celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States with special programming highlighting the river’s historical significance.
Organized by Schuylkill River Greenways in Pottstown, the annual event will take place from June 13 through June 19, covering a 112-mile guided journey from Schuylkill Haven to Boathouse Row in Philadelphia.
Participants will travel between 14 and 18 miles per day by kayak or canoe, accompanied by trained river guides. The experience includes meals, camping and gear transportation, making it accessible for a wide range of paddlers.
Pricing is set at $130 per day for adults and $75 for youth ages 16 and under, with full-trip rates of $775 for adults and $500 for youth.
Organizers say this year’s event will place a special emphasis on the Schuylkill River’s role in American history, offering a unique way to connect recreation with the nation’s 250th birthday celebration.
Registration is now open.
Animal Rescue League Plans May 29 Golf Event
The Animal Rescue League of Berks County is gearing up for its annual fundraiser, “Not Your Grandfather’s Golf Outing,” set for May 29 at Manor Golf Club.

The event will offer a relaxed and entertaining day on the course, welcoming both experienced golfers and those simply looking to enjoy the activities. Participants can take part in on-course games and challenges, followed by an after-event celebration featuring food trucks, raffle prizes and additional festivities.
Organizers note that registration spots are limited and encourage interested participants to sign up in advance. Sponsorship opportunities are also available for those looking to support the event.
Proceeds from the outing will benefit the Animal Rescue League’s ongoing efforts to care for animals in the community.
