First-Ever Cheesesteak Festival
Coming to Pottstown

A new food event is coming to Pottstown as SoulJoelβs at SunnyBrook hosts the first-ever Greater Philadelphia Cheesesteak Festival on Sunday, April 26 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The festival will celebrate one of the regionβs most iconic foods, bringing together cheesesteak vendors from across the Delaware Valley for a day dedicated entirely to the local favorite. In addition to cheesesteaks, attendees can enjoy donuts, water ice, soft pretzels and live music, creating a full Philadelphia-themed experience.
Each ticket costs $40 and includes five sample tickets, which can be used to try cheesesteaks from participating vendors. Additional food and beverages, including alcoholic and non-alcoholic options, will be available for purchase.
The event will take place at 50 Sunnybrook Road and will feature free parking and a full bar. Organizers note that all ticket sales are final and non-refundable.
Billed as a celebration rather than a competition, the festival aims to bring together food lovers for a shared appreciation of the regionβs signature dish.
Daniel Boone Students Earn
Spot in State Competition

The Daniel Boone Area School District Academic Challenge Team delivered an impressive performance, earning a spot in the upcoming state competition.
The team faced second-ranked Kutztown in a closely contested match that ended in a tie, forcing a sudden-death tiebreaker, where Daniel Boone secured the win.
Advancing to the final round, the team competed against undefeated Wyomissing and Twin Valley. In another tight matchup, Daniel Boone edged out the competition, finishing just two points ahead of Wyomissing to claim victory.
With the win, the team has qualified for the State Competition on May 1, capping off a strong showing built on teamwork, preparation and determination.
SΓ‘nchez Dominates as Phillies
Top Rangers on Opening Day
The Philadelphia Phillies opened the season with a 5-3 win over the Texas Rangers on Thursday, powered by a dominant outing from Cristopher SΓ‘nchez and home runs from Kyle Schwarber and Alec Bohm.
SΓ‘nchez struck out 10 batters over six shutout innings, allowing just three hits and no walks in his first start since signing a long-term contract extension. The left-hander kept Texas off balance throughout his outing and exited to a standing ovation.
Philadelphiaβs offense provided early support. Schwarber launched a two-run home run in the first inning, while Bohm added a three-run homer in the fifth, extending the Philliesβ lead to 5-0.
The Rangers mounted a late rally, highlighted by a two-run homer in the ninth, but the Phillies held on, calling on their closer to secure the win.
Rookie Justin Crawford also made an impression in his major league debut, recording two hits.
The victory gives Philadelphia a strong start to the season as they continue their series against Texas.
