Fundraiser Launched for Family of

Corporal Christopher High

A GoFundMe campaign has been created to support the family of Corporal Christopher High, a longtime Amity Township police officer who passed away on March 18, 2026, following a sudden off-duty medical emergency.

High was a 1988 graduate of Daniel Boone High School and went on to serve his country in the United States Air Force from 1992 to 1996. After his military service, he dedicated more than two decades to law enforcement, serving with the Caernarvon Township Police Department, Douglass Township Police Department, and most recently the Amity Township Police Department, where he had served since 2003.

Throughout his career, High was known for his professionalism, strength and commitment to public safety, including his role as a member of the SWAT team. He also remained committed to personal growth, recently earning a master’s degree in Homeland Security and Emergency Management from Rosemont College, achieving a 4.0 GPA and preparing to walk at graduation this spring.

Beyond his career, High was a devoted husband and father. He is survived by his wife, Tara, and their five children. The couple also opened their home through adoption, working to keep their family united and strong.

As the family copes with this loss, Tara is also facing ongoing health challenges, adding to the difficulties ahead. The fundraiser aims to help ease the financial burden and provide support for the family during this time.

Community members are encouraged to contribute if they are able or to share the fundraiser and keep the High family in their thoughts.

Amity Township Plans Playground

Upgrades at Community Park

Amity Township is beginning plans to upgrade playground facilities at Amity Community Park, starting with the replacement of aging equipment.

Township officials announced that the 20-year-old playground equipment will be gradually replaced, with the first phase focusing on the play area designed for children ages 2 to 5. In addition, several standalone play structures that have deteriorated over time will also be updated.

The improvements are part of an effort to enhance park amenities and provide safer, modern play spaces for local families.

Officials shared an early preview of the project and indicated that more updates will follow as work progresses.

Berks Jazz Fest Celebrates 35th Anniversary

Organizers of the Berks Jazz Fest are celebrating a major milestone with a special ticket release for the festival’s 35th anniversary.

With the event just one week away, a limited block of anniversary tickets has been made available to give more fans and longtime supporters the opportunity to take part in this year’s celebration. These tickets are separate from the standard inventory and will only be available while supplies last.

As part of the promotion, attendees can take advantage of a special 35% discount on select shows, offering an added incentive to experience the festival’s lineup of performances.

The Berks Jazz Fest has spent more than three decades bringing world-class music and memorable performances to the community, and organizers say this year’s event is a celebration of that legacy.
