Competing with the Northern Berks Scholastic Hockey Team, Daniel Boone players played a key role in defeating the previously undefeated Keystone Kraken to capture the Viola Cup Championship. The win marks the first club championship in team history and the first time a Berks County team has claimed the Viola Cup.

The varsity skaters representing Daniel Boone included seniors Nick Fritz and Brandon Schutter, junior Jackson Cole, and sophomores Ben McFetridge and Tristan Heaberlin.
In the championship matchup, McFetridge recorded a goal and an assist to lead the effort. Fritz, Cole and Heaberlin each contributed an assist, helping secure the milestone victory.
The accomplishment represents a significant moment for both the Northern Berks program and Berks County high school hockey.

One Injured After Blaze
Engulfs Sell Road Garage

Firefighters responded to a garage fire in Robeson Township on Friday afternoon that resulted in the structure being destroyed, according to emergency reports.
Dispatchers received calls around 2:48 p.m. reporting an explosion followed by flames at a detached garage in the 400 block of Sell Road. Residents were safely outside when emergency crews were alerted.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the approximately 20-by-30-foot garage fully engulfed in flames. Callers reported that gasoline containers and a vehicle were inside the structure at the time of the fire.
One individual was transported to Reading Hospital for treatment of burns. It was not immediately clear whether the injured person was a firefighter or a civilian.
A large response of emergency personnel worked to contain the blaze, bringing it under control in roughly 45 minutes. Crews began clearing the scene shortly before 3:45 p.m.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
