Tired of Spam Calls? iOS 26's New Feature

Lets You Screen Before Answering

Apple's latest iOS 26 update includes a major redesign for its built-in Phone app. The overhaul introduces several new features, with a particular focus on improving how users handle incoming calls.

One of the most significant additions is a new call screening tool called 'Ask Reason for Calling.' This feature aims to solve a common problem with the existing 'Silence Unknown Callers' option.

Previously, that setting could block spam effectively, but it also silenced legitimate calls from numbers not saved in a user's contacts. This forced people to choose between letting all calls ring through or potentially missing important ones.

The new screening option provides a middle ground. When an unknown number calls, the system automatically asks the caller to state their name and purpose.

This information is then displayed on the recipient's screen before the phone ever rings. It gives users the context they need to decide whether to answer, send the call to voicemail, or block it.

Alongside this feature, the Phone app received its most substantial visual update in years. Apple also added new ringtones and integrated Live Translation capabilities into the calling experience.

The update is part of a broader iOS 26 initiative that includes hundreds of changes, with special attention given to communication apps like Messages and Phone. For users tired of spam but hesitant to silence all unknown callers, the new screening tool offers a more nuanced solution.

Daniel Boone Drama Club Serves Up

Comedy and Chaos in Murder Mystery

The Daniel Boone High School Drama Club is inviting the community to an evening of mystery, comedy, and theatrical fun with a one-act murder mystery performance set for Friday, February 13.

The production, Too Many Detectives at the Murder Mansion, brings together some of the worldโ€™s most recognizable fictional sleuths for a night of chaos and laughs. When characters inspired by Batman, Nancy Drew, the Scooby-Doo gang, Agatha Christie, and Sherlock Holmes all find themselves trapped inside the same mansion, the result is a fast-paced and comedic whodunit filled with unexpected twists.

The show will take place in the Daniel Boone High School cafeteria, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. and the performance beginning at 7 p.m. Admission is $5 cash at the door, and concessions will be available for purchase.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Daniel Boone Theatre Society, helping to support student performers and future drama club productions. The one-night-only performance offers audiences a chance to enjoy student talent while supporting the schoolโ€™s arts program.
